BA Campaign Monitor

Before setting up Booking Abandonment on the client website be sure that everything is already set up in Campaign Monitor.

There are two different parts to the Campaign Monitor setup (1) List Setup and (2) Automation Setup.

Campaign Monitor List Setup

Streamline Clients: Be sure to create the list in Streamline FIRST and then finish the steps for Campaign Monitor. For more information on how to create a Streamline list, https://bluetent.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/PROD/pages/931921935

  1. Log into Campaign Monitor and head to Lists & subscribers in the main nav.

     

  2. Depending on how far you are into your setup and how you decide to set up your lists, you might:

    1. Create a new list specifically for Booking Abandonment (recommended).

    2. Use the reservation list you have already set up in Campaign Monitor.     3. If your client is using Streamline, you will want to set up a new list in Streamline and then continue on to Step 4. For more information on how to sync with Streamline - https://bluetent.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/PROD/pages/931921935

    4. DO NOT use your general marketing list to set up Booking Abandonment. These people have not consented to receive general marketing emails. We can only send them Booking Abandonment emails.

      *For the rest of this How-To, we will create a new list specifically for Booking Abandonment (recommended).

      Use the green Create New List button.

       

  3. Name your list Reservations - Booking Abandonment or something similar,
    Keep the List Type as Single opt-in,
    And then press the green Create List button.

     

  4. On the right-hand side, under the More Actions section, select the Settings option.

     

  5. Find Unsubscribe Actions located under Unsubscribe Options and select Edit.



  6. Use the radio button and update to Remove subscribers from this list only and press the green Save Changes button.

     

  7. Head back to your list and sync with Guest Portal. For more information on how to sync your list with GuestPortal - Information on GuestPortal is still in Google Drive

    1. If you have Streamline or cannot sync to the client’s PMS, just skip to the next step.

  8. Create 9 custom fields specifically for Booking Abandonment.

    1. BA Property ID - text

    2. BA Booking Completed - number

    3. BA Property Available - number

    4. BA Property Name - text

    5. BA Property URL - text

    6. BA Property Image - text

    7. BA Abandonment Date - date

    8. BA Arrival Date - text

    9. BA Departure Date - text

       

  9. Once your custom fields are created, head back to your list and go to your Segments.

     

  10. You will be creating 2 segments. To start a new segment, select the green Create a new segment button.

     

    1. Not Booked and Property Available

      1. Define rule based on … : BA Booking Completed

      2. matches Exactly

      3. 0 (zero)

         

      4. Select the blue + AND button.

      5. Define rule based on … : BA Property Available

      6. matches exactly

      7. 1 (one)


        IF YOUR CLIENT IS NOT SYNCED TO ANYTHING SKIP TO STEP 9B

        Escapia - 9A1, Streamline - 9A2

        1. IF THIS IS AN ESCAPIA CLIENT ADD :

          1. Select the blue + ADD button.

          2. ESC Status

          3. matches exactly

          4. Checked Out

             

          5. Select the blue + OR button.

          6. ESC Status

          7. Is not provided

             

          8. Select the blue + OR button.

      8. Name Your Segment something along the lines of Not Booked and Property Available and press the green Save and preview button.

    2. Not Booked and Property NOT Available

      1. Define rule based on … : BA Booking Completed

      2. matches exactly

      3. 0 (zero)

         

      4. Select the blue + AND button.

      5. Define rule based on … : BA Property Available

      6. matches exactly

      7. 0 (zero)


        IF YOUR CLIENT IS NOT SYNCED TO ANYTHING SKIP TO STEP 10


        Escapia - 9B1, Streamline - 9B2

          1. Select the blue + ADD button.

Campaign Monitor Automated Journey Setup

Booking Abandonment - Property Available

  1. Log into your client’s Campaign Monitor account and head to Automation in the main nav.

     

  2. Select the green Create a new journey button.

     

  3. Name this journey - Booking Abandonment - Property Available

  4. What will trigger this journey? - A date

  5. Recipients - select the list you created for Booking Abandonment -
    Reservations - Booking Abandonment

  6. When should this journey start?

    1. On

    2. BA Abandonment Date

  7. Select the green Build your journey → button.

     

  8. Select the + button to add a Delay to the journey

     

  9. Length of the delay - 24-hours

     

  10. Select the + button to add an Email to the journey

     

  11. Step Name - Booking Abandonment - Property Available

    1. This step name will be the Campaign Name in Google Analytics.

  12. Subject ex - “Oops, Looks Like You Forgot Something”, “Still Thinking it Over?” (or something similar)

  13. From -

    1. From Name - Client Name

    2. From Email - Client Email

  14. Send any replies to a different email address - No need to check this box, unless the client wants replies to go to a different email address than the one they are sending from.

  15. Send to specific segments - check this box

    1. Check the Not Booking and Property Available box.

  16. Select the green Add email content → button to create your Booking Abandonment - Property Available email.

     

  17. Create your email with your Booking Abandonment Property Available template.

    1. A few things to remember:

      1. Update your pre-header text information.

      2. Add any other marketing materials you may want to.

  18. Once you’ve tested everything, use the green Turn on journey button to turn this bad boy on.


Booking Abandonment - Property Not Available

  1. Log into your client’s Campaign Monitor account and head to Automation in the main nav.

     

  2. Select the green Create a new journey button.

     

  3. Name this journey - Booking Abandonment - Property Not Available

  4. What will trigger this journey? - A date

  5. Recipients - select the list you created for Booking Abandonment -
    Reservations - Booking Abandonment

  6. When should this journey start?

    1. On

    2. BA Abandonment Date

  7. Select the green Build your journey → button.

     

  8. Select the + button to add a Delay to the journey

     

  9. Length of the delay - 24-hours
