Implementation: Site Creation Process

This article will cover, at a high level, the steps required to create a new site and implement it for a given client. This article does not cover things like AWS server architecture, file storage procedures, or permissions. This information can be found in the corresponding document related to the specifications and capabilities of the deployment manager.

If you are not already logged into Auth0, it will prompt you to login and then proceed to bring you into the Hub Dashboard.

 Create a New Organization

Organizations encompass everything about a given client; from connections to different channel distribution IDs (usually the website URL.) For example, the organization “Bluetent” may exist with several distribution channels (i.e. https://www.deepcreek.com/, https://www.rezfusionhubdemo.com, etc.)

Organizations can have connections, and no channels, as well as channels and no connections. However, without at least one channel (distribution feed) and one connection, there will be no way to distribute data from a given organization.

It is important to keep in mind the organization, and its related channels, do not define the actual domain name or where the site lives. This is purely a unique identifier for a given organization’s channel distribution feed. This allows one organization to provide “1 - many” property feed lists to any number of websites (i.e. WordPress site).

  1. Navigate to “Manage Companies” or “Manage Websites & Connections” under either the channel or organization dropdowns:

  1. Click “Add Company” and fill in company details:

The Company Moniker and Company GUID need to be unique.

FOR BLUETENT GUID: Use https://www.uuidgenerator.net/ to generate a GUID

FOR BLUETENT Moniker: Company moniker will be 4 characters beginning with the letter n. Please use the Moniker checker HERE to confirm that there is no duplicate.

  1. Your new company should now show up in the list (if searched) or scrolled within the global company view:



 

 Create a First Connection

  1. While still within the /organizations view, you will see your new organization (you may have to select it, first) create your first connection:

     

  2. First, begin by clicking “Add a Connection”.

  3. Fill in relevant connection details after selecting the connection provider:

Does the SL connection require the _VRBO at the end of the source?

Click “Add” to save the connection. A page refresh may be required for you to see your new connection.

Run a refresh to pull the initial list of items.

After some time elapses, refresh the page. You should see active properties:

 Create your First Channel

Don’t worry! All of these values can be updated after initial channel creation.

Now, it is time to create the channel. The channel is the configuration layer that attaches to a given WordPress website (you will see that process in this guide.) Creating a channel is relatively simple, the most important values are:

To add your channel - Click Add a Channel

Fill in the following information:

At the very bottom of the modal, click “Add Website”:

Click the X on the spinning screen pop up

Reload the page, and your new channel should be present:

 

 Create your First Feed Rule

Feed rules are the piece of glue that holds a distribution of units from a connection to a selected website. You can think of connections as a stream of water and a channel as a nearby town. The feed rule is the aquafer that diverts water (PMS unit data) to the town (channel.)

Without at least one feed rule, the channel has no way of receiving any of the unit data, even if the connection itself is valid.

Feed rules can be defined in several ways:

  • By individual units from all available organizational connections (in-progress.)

  • By category (in-progress.)

  • By connection (most common); this includes all published/active units from a given connection.

 

To Add A Feed Rule - Click Add a Feed Rule

Once your feed rule is created, refresh the page. Then, select your feed rule and associate it with at least one channel and one connection.

Click the Name of the Feed Rule

Click the Add Channels > Click the Name of your Channel

Click Add Connections > Click the Name of the Connection

Click Add Items > Select the appropriate units for this channel

Click Save Rules

NOTE:

If a rule contains ALL available channels/connections from an organization it belongs to it will not show any options under the Add Channels/Connections tabs. Instead, you will find options to remove the associations under the Remove Channels/Connections tabs.

Refresh your connections after you have updated your feed rules to finish any necessary channel → item mappings. You should see your feed of properties under the channel dashboard’s “Properties” tab:


 Additional & Future Channel Configuration


Under settings, configure the channel settings as desired, and then publish your tag after saving your changes. The tags distribute the configured channel settings to the connected WordPress website (set up for this is after the connection setup.)



 

Any changes must be published via the tag publish management page.
