Partner Network - Tax Mapping
The purpose of this article is to give a high-level overview of how to map taxes for listings connected via the Boost Partner Network.
Tax Advice
Bluetent does not offer professional tax advice. If you are unsure what taxes get applied to rent and fees, or have questions regarding which taxes each OTA collect on your behalf, please reach out to the OTA’s support and/or consult a tax professional.
Tax Mapping Overview
All taxes that should be applied to reservations taken via the Boost Partner Network must be mapped on the Boost Tax Mapping page. Any tax that is not mapped in Boost will NOT be applied to reservations.
Default for Unmapped Tax
Anytime a new tax is entered in your property management software you will need to come into Boost and map that tax to the applicable categories. The Default for unmapped tax dropdown allows you to set a default category that any new/unmapped taxes will be automatically mapped to. This is a great backup in case you forget to map the tax in Boost.
Mapping Taxes
To get to the tax mapping section, navigate to the Partner Network and click Manage Settings
Then click on the ‘Tax Mapping’ tab.
When mapping taxes you will have some of the following options depending on your PMS and Channel:
Available Tax Categories
Select an option for each tax:
DO NOT SEND: This is for taxes that you want excluded from being sent to OTA.
Unspecified/Default: The taxes will be applied how you have set the “Default for any unmapped tax” at the top of the page.
Applicable To
In the Applicable to column you will have some of the following options depending on your PMS and Channel. Select an option for each tax. See Below:
In Rent : This will override how you have taxes configured to be applied to fees, and only apply that tax to rent.
In Fees: This will override how you have taxes configured to be applied to rent, and only apply that tax to fees.
Apply to Rent & Fees: This will respect however you have taxes configured within your PMS to be applied to rent and/or fees.
Apply according to my PMS: This will apply taxes the way you have them configured in your PMS, either applying to rent or fees, or both. It will also only apply to properties to which you have mapped this tax to.
Don’t forget to press SUBMIT after making any changes.
Very Important
To ensure taxes are correctly applied run an Import/Sync on all listings and check that taxes have been correctly applied on the Listings Setting page in Boost.
