Booking.com: Listing Title Best Practices and Requirements
Booking.com title patterns differ greatly from other platforms. They encourage the use of concise, quantitative descriptions rather than colorful language that might include details of the property experience.
*Be aware that changing listing or room names will cause that listings to be unpublished and will be manually reviewed by Booking.com staff before becoming available again. Avoid making repeated title changes once a property has been approved.
DO’S
Use specific, unique names for each property
Ideal name length normally: under 25 characters – including spaces
Maximum length for hotel style inventory: under 35 characters – including spaces
Maximum length for Vacation Rentals: when the only way to differentiate similar properties is by adding more details to the name, the maximum length can be extended up to 80 characters
Use the address in the name when it is the special, unique and specific identifier (“Apt 4b, East 56th St” is infinitely better than “Apartment New York 1”)
If we don't have the full street address, the street name or building name can be used, perhaps with the postcode. Eg “East 56th St Apartment” or “Prinsengracht Apartment 1016HS”.
You may use the property type and number of bedrooms in the name to differentiate the property from similar ones in the same building/area (“Three-Bedroom Apartment…”)
If you are having trouble coming up with a name, Booking.com suggests the following combo:
Street name + accommodation type + unit/house number
DON'TS
Don’t use generic names.
Very generic terms (“Villa Playa”, “Estudio Amoblado”, “Apartamento Central”, “House for Rent”, “Seaview Apartments”)
Single word names (“Mini”, “Apartamento”, “Suitcase”, “Loft”)
No adjectives/subjective verbiage - Example: Lovely, spectacular, modern house
No facilities in unit names - Example: Sunset House with fireplace and private pool, great ocean views
No policies in unit names - Example: Sunset House with WIFI and dog friendly
No number of bathrooms in names. Number of bedrooms is allowed.
No trademark names. Examples:
Finding Nemo House
Mickey Mouse House
Avoid using punctuation marks such as double quotes (“”), asterisks (*), exclamation points (!), and at signs (@). The only special characters allowed in the property name are: ! # & ` ' " - ,
No excessive capitalization. Don’t capitalize whole words (though acronyms are ok). “Apartment VL Amsterdam” is fine. “Apartment PEGASUS” is not.
